Nadine Hahn (21) of Avondale is this year’s Miss Gtel Face of Zimbabwe after beating 19 other contenders for the title. Thabelo Masoha was voted the first princess, while former Miss Curvy Tanya Chikuni was crowned second princess. Nadine was naturally ecstatic and thanked the organisers of the pageant.
“I am so overwhelmed. I thank the organisers and the judges for showing faith in me,” said Nadine. “I am very excited about winning although I was not expecting it since the competition was stiff. I am humbled by this opportunity and now looking forward to the future.”
Nadine will be reigning Miss Gtel Face of Zimbabwe for a year and will later represent Zimbabwe in the Miss Supernatural in Poland. The beauty queen, who is former Miss Teen Zimbabwe, made headlines in 2010 after clashing with director of Miss Teen, Leslie Gurajena, for failing to honour pledges for prizes she won.
Bianca Mpopoma won the Miss Personality title and will get two nights at the Crowne Plaza and an HP laptop. Melisa Moyo was voted the People’s Choice by Star FM listeners.
Guest of honour, Media, Information and Publicity Minister Webster Shamu commended Gtel for raising the bar in the modelling industry.” “Modelling is critical in empowering the girl child and the country needs to support such initiatives.
“Gtel has gone to great lengths in raising the standards of Zimbabwe modelling and categories such as the “fun with the Zim flag” serve to show the pride they have in their country,” he said.
