Rumbidzai Mudzengerere was recently voted the Miss Tourism Queen International Africa second runner-up, missing the big accolade Miss Tourism Queen International, which was won by Miss Thailand at an event held in Xian, China.

The first princess was from Fernando de Narondenad, while the second princess was from Belarus, leaving the host country to clinch the third prize.

Looking at the magnitude of the contest, where over 90 countries and tourism region took place, the organisers decided to also award continental prizes, where Rumbidzai was chosen the second runner-up, in the African category, with South Africa being voted the winner.

Nigeria was the first runner-up. For her efforts, Rumbidzai together with the three African beauties, were awarded with certificates. In an interview from China, Rumbidzai said she was happy with her achievements although she would have wanted to do better than she did.

"For me, the whole experience was a learning curve. The beauty pageant gave me a platform to network with other contestants from all over the globe.

"I managed to market my country well during the camp and I am really proud of the comments, inquiries and suggestions that I got while talking to other models," she enthused.

Rumbidzai was in camp in China, for close to one month, an opportunity she used to market Zimbabwe to other contestants.

She expressed her gratitude to the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority for the assistance she got from the time she won the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe beauty pageant.

"I am extremely grateful for all the assistance that I got from ZTA, from the moment that I was voted into the office until this day," she said.
