The centenary dinner for invited Heads of State and Government and their representatives which was hosted by ANC Leader Jacob Zuma at Vista University at Bloemfontein ended early this morning.
Vice President Joice Mujuru was among those who were in attendance.
Cde Zuma acknowledged the presence of elderly statesman like former Zambian President Cde Kenneth Kaunda and said his party has been able to stand the test of time as its foundation is deeply rooted in the revolutionary and nationalistic ideals.
He noted that the 100 years of selfless struggle have not been easy but the party has remained resolute due to the support of fellow liberation movements.
Speaking during the dinner former Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda took the opportunity to pay tribute to Zimbabwe for pioneering the land reform exercise and now the indigenisation programme, saying fellow African states should take a leaf from the Zimbabwe which is forging ahead with the empowerment agenda as the war of independence was meant to achieve total economic and political liberation.
Cde Zuma also lit the centenary flame symbolising the resistance that gave hope to all Africans.
This morning hundreds of thousands of people will throng Free State stadium for the main celebrations.
