Nongoma Ndlovu, the daughter to veteran singer Themba Ndlovu, appears to be following in her father's footsteps.
She is set to release her debut album titled "The Mirror" in April this year.
The 22-year-old songstress, who is backed by her two young sisters Thembi (19) and Nandi (17), appears to have what it takes to make it on the mainstream music scene.
Based in South Africa, where she is studying music, Nongoma could be the next big thing to happen on afro-jazz which she effortlessly delivers with cool confidence.
"Wow, I think she reminds me of Zahara, who is topping the charts in South Africa," one fan said. In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Nongoma said she was looking forward to doing well this year.
"I am looking forward to releasing more albums this year and also make a mark in the music industry," she said.
Nongoma was born in Hamburg, Germany, and grew up in Zimbabwe until the age of eight. At the age of four she wrote her first song and from such a tender age one could tell that music was her destiny. Together with her parents she moved back to Europe when she was eight. In 2000 at the age of 10, she explored her singing talents with a Swiss-based hip-hop outfit which was signed to Warner Music.
A year later she formed a group with her two sisters called "Day by Day".
At the age of 14, she was the lead singer with a group called Gospel Singers Wollishofen, a renowned Swiss choir.
Her family relocated to South Africa in 2005 where she subsequently completed her high school at the National School of Arts in Johannesburg. Nongoma is a singer, songwriter, producer and arranger just like her father Themba, who was famously known for the hit song "Meet Me in Zimbabwe".
