ZBC Current Affairs editor Freedom Moyo who died early yesterday morning will be buried in Esigodini tomorrow.
He was 37.
Family spokesperson and brother to the deceased, Mr Agent Moyo, said burial will be at Habane Township, Esigodini, Matabeleland South.
Moyo died yesterday at around 3am from injuries sustained after his car rammed into a stationary haulage truck along Bishop Gaul Avenue in Belvedere on Saturday morning.
He had just dropped a colleague home when his Toyota Harrier ploughed into the truck.
He suffered a broken leg and sustained internal injuries and was admitted at West End Clinic's intensive care unit.
National Traffic police spokesperson Inspector Tigere Chigome yesterday said the accident occurred at the intersection of Princess Road and Bishop Gaul Avenue.
Speaking at a funeral service in Harare yesterday, Media, Information and Publicity Minister Webster Shamu described Moyo as a hardworking journalist.
"I am happy that his history has a lot. He didn't start on the top, but rose through the ranks to become what he was now," he said.
Minister Shamu said Moyo was a professional who had knowledge in everything that he was doing especially on researching about his work.
Zanu-PF national chairman Cde Simon Khaya-Moyo described Moyo as a free man who defended the freedom and sovereignty of his country.
"His insightful interviews begged for cogent responses. He was a jewel in the field of journalism. A man of purpose whose career was enveloped for cherished destiny," Cde Khaya-Moyo said. He said although Moyo will be buried in Esigodini, his umbilical cord lies in Plumtree where he was born.
ZBC Holdings chief executive officer Mr Happison Muchechetere described Moyo as a hero who will be sadly missed.
He said they will cherish all the good work he did.
Zimbabwe Union of Journalists vice president Michael Chideme described the death of Moyo as a great loss to the profession given Moyo's passion to guide young journalists.
Zimbabwe Media Commissioner, Mathew Takaona, said Moyo's death was a shock to the profession.
Born on August 18, 1974 in Plumtree, Freedom did his primary education at Mkhayeni and Mvuthu Primary schools.
He then proceeded to Mvuthu Secondary in Esigodini.
Moyo worked as a bureau chief for Matabeleland North Province before he was transferred to Harare to take up the post of manager bulletins.
He was moved to manager current affairs last year, a post he held until his death.
