ALL is set for this year's edition of the Zimbabwe Music Crossroads talent search show with various groups from the country's 10 provinces billed to battle it out in Harare's First Street Mall tomorrow. Last year's winners of Chibuku Road to Fame, Munandi Band led by John Pfumojena, are in the running with Savanna Afros, Nexus (who are representing Harare and Chitungwiza), Hungwe Stars (Manicaland), The Way (Mashonaland Central), African Voices (Mashonaland West) and African Tribes and Destiny who are both from Matabeleland.
Farirayi Rumano, the communications officer of Zimbabwe Music Crossroads, said: "We have finalised the proceedings of the show, with participating groups confirming their availability.
"Guest artistes have also been engaged by the organisation so as to spice up the occasion so music lovers should brace themselves for a thrilling show," said Rumano.
The guest artistes will include the previous edition's winners Club Shanga of Marondera, Mokoomba and Chikwata.
Club Shanga are expected to enthrall spectators with their sublime piece of Afrocentric tunes, which got them a chance to perform in Spain after winning the inter-regional version of the competition held in Bagamoyo, Tanzania last year.
The winners of this year's edition will participate in the inter-regional competition to be held in Maputo, Mozambique, between February 8-13, then go for a European tour.
Rumano also said that the artistes would undergo a workshop with music gurus Busi Ncube, Isaac Chirwa and others from the College of Music expected to facilitate the workshop.
"Participants will also go through another workshop to enlighten them on various aspects of the music industry like stage management, voice training, band management, the copyright law, marketing and promotion of music.
"Issues like HIV and Aids and gender awareness will also be on the agenda at the workshop where Ncube and Chirwa will facilitate," Rumano said.
Established in 1996, Music Crossroads targets unrecorded artistes between the ages of 15 and 25.It is an affiliate of the Music Crossroads International, whose aim is to identify talent among youth through cultural exchange.
