. . . as Mbada back Mighty Bulls

MOTOR ACTION are set to get a perfect boost ahead of their Confederation Cup campaign when mining giants Mbada Diamonds unveil their sponsorship package and kits at a send-off ceremony this afternoon. The Mighty Bulls are scheduled to leave for South Africa tomorrow for their preliminary round clash against Black Leopards.

The match will be played on Saturday at Peter Mokaba in Polokwane.Motor Action are venturing into Africa this season on a Mbada Diamonds Cup ticket.

And they could not have hoped for a better send-off as they aim for a positive result away in the first leg.

Just two days before the start of the campaign, Joey Antipas and his men will have their morale lifted when Mbada Diamonds fulfil the pledge they made last year.

The diamond mining giant last year unveiled a US$1m sponsorship for the league's major cup competition, which involved all the 16 Premiership teams.

They revealed that they had set aside a US$150 000 subsidy and a further US$25 000 kit sponsorship for the winners of the cup should they participate in the Confederation Cup

However, the tournament was won by Dynamos, who opted to play in the prestigious Caf Champions League, handing Motor Action a chance to play in Africa for the second year running. The Mighty Bulls will also get the accompanying package.

Mbada Diamonds Corporate Social Responsibility Officer, Tafadzwa Chiremba, yesterday said the company had arranged a farewell ceremony for the Mighty Bulls and will use the event to unveil the sponsorship deal.

"Basically, it's a farewell ceremony for Motor Action as they venture into the African safari," said Chiremba.

"Mbada Diamonds will unveil their sponsorship deal and kits to be used by the club in the Confederation Cup."

The Mighty Bulls stepped up their preparations this week but suffered an injury blow to their new acquisition, Fortune Ncube, who picked up a knock in the practice match against Dynamos last week.

Antipas said the former Highfield United midfielder will not be available for the match. The Mighty Bulls, who recently concluded deals with the Highfield United duo of Isaac Madziva and Protasho Kabwe, have brought in 11 new players during the off-season to beef up their squad.

"We should be finalising our travelling squad after the morning session tomorrow (today)," said Antipas.

"Besides Fortune everyone is up and running and we are hoping to do well in the competition."The Mighty Bulls could also welcome midfielder, Edward Tembo, who missed the bigger part of the season last year because of injury.

However, Tembo has recovered and has been training with the team. Compatriots, Hwange, who also begin their campaign away, will leave for Zanzibar this afternoon for a date against Jamhuri.

The coal-miners arrived in Harare yesterday and will have their last training session at the Motor Action Sports Club this morning.

Coach, Tennant Chilumba, named his squad yesterday and is looking forward to scale the preliminary round hurdle against the unheralded East Africans.
