Fans vote for gala’s top performers
VOTES for artistes who were outstanding at the 21st Movement Celebrations Gala held in Chipinge recently continue to pour in, with members of the public voting for artistes of their choice. This was revealed by gala organiser Retired Major Anywhere Mutambudzi, who said the response from the public had been overwhelming. “Yes, the votes are pouring in,” he said. Dubbed “The Bob @ 88 Gala Promotion”, the competition started on March 3 and will run until March 17. There are three categories in the promotion. These are: “Overall Best Act”, which carries with it US$1 000 prize money plus DStv decoder (full set) and one-year subscription, “Best Female Act” which will see the artiste walking away with US$750, full set DStv decoder and one-year’s subscription while US$750 will go to the “Best Promising Act”. Members of the public have been, and still are voting through SMS on the numbers 41980 using the NetOne network. Those who make the correct predictions will win two nights at A’Zambezi Hotel in Victoria Falls, US$500 spending money plus DStv decoder (full set) and one year’s subscription. The second prize carries with it two nights for two at the Ancient City Hotel in Masvingo and US$300 spending money. Winners will be announced on March 24 and it remains to be seen who among the artistes that performed at the gala will emerge the winners. Some of the artistes who performed include Alick Macheso, Nicholas Zakaria, Blessing Shumba, Peter Moyo, Tryson Chimbetu, Mercy Mutsvene, Beverly Sibanda, Morgan and Tendai Dembo, Top Sungura, Jah Prayzah, Iyasa, LMG Choir, Moses Rwizi and Jays Marabini, among others.
