DYNAMOS insist they are focused ahead of their crucial first leg, first round tie of the Champions League when they plunge into battle this afternoon against Liga Muculmana. The Mozambican league champions employed all the dirty tricks on Dynamos on Thursday afternoon.
But DeMbare, who have been playing in the African Safari for a long period, expected such hostile conditions and the technical and management team addressed players yesterday evening.
The players vowed to beat Liga Muculmana in their own backyard.
Yesterday Dynamos held a training session on a bumpy pitch in the park that is opposite Grand VIP Hotel for 90 minutes.
Striker Rodreck Mutuma and right back David Kutyauripo sat out the morning session.
Mutuma was weak because of the food they ate at a restaurant owned by president of Liga Muculmana while Kutyauripo was feeling dizzy.
Assistant coach Tonderai Ndiraya bemoaned the state of the pitch where they conducted their morning session and said it had an impact on players who risked injuries.
He said a professional outfit like Liga Muculmana stood very low to try and frustrate them but they would remain focused.
“Since we are playing away from home, we must be cautious when attacking, utilise our chances, score away goals and avoid conceding.
“I am confident of a victory given our preparations for this match have gone well except the last minute pull-out of Guthrie Zhokinyi,” Ndiraya said.
Oozing confidence, Ndirarya indicated that the worst case scenario that could happen today is a scoring draw and they would finish off Liga Muculmana in Harare on April 8.
Ndiraya is happy that they have worked on their defence.
He pointed out that his defenders were not communicating effectively and their concentration levels were poor but they should be okay today.
Ndiraya added that although they were satisfied with the accommodation at the three-star Hotel Africa, the technical team was worried with the quality of food they are eating.
Dynamos are having their meals at a restaurant owned by the president of Liga Muculmana, and Ndiraya said there was a risk their food could be tampered with.
Mutuma has since been a victim.
“We have two changes to the squad that played Motor Action during the NetOne Charity Shield Cup final.
“At the moment we cannot release the starting team because Mutuma and Kutyauripo have to pass the late fitness test,” added Ndiraya.
Efforts to get comment from Liga Muculmana coach Artur Semedo were fruitless as the Mozambican coach received instructions from the club bosses not to entertain Zimbabwean journalists before the match.
His mobile phone was not being answered.
Meanwhile, Dynamos supporters were expected in Maputo last night, thanks to Moonlight Funeral Services who donated a 65-seater bus for the fans to travel to Mozambique and rally behind their heroes.
